Chickens and Bees
Residents are allowed to keep up to four chickens, with a permit, on a single-family residential premises, subject to the following. The following list is meant to be informative, however it is not an all inclusive list. Please read the ordinance for a comprehensive list of requirements.
- No roosters.
- No slaughtering of chickens.
- Chickens must be provided fresh water and adequate amounts of feed at all times
- Chickens must be provided a sanitary and adequately sized covered enclosure (at least 16 square feet per chicken).
- Coops must be constructed in a workmanlike manner, be moisture-resistant, and either raised or on a hard surface.
- Coops must be at least 40 feet away from any residential structures on another lot.

- The hives forming the apiary structure must be located near each other to form a single apiary.
- All honey bees shall be kept in hives with removable frames.
- Hives cannot be located in the front or sides yards. Hives must be no less than 20 feet from the rear yard property line.
- Hives shall be located a minimum of 50 feet from any structures located on another property.
- A beekeeper must continually provide fresh water to bees from a source immediately within the apiary to prevent bees from seeking water sources at nearby property.
